Prime Video has appointed former Netflix film executive Sasha Bühler as head of German originals at Prime Video and Amazon MGM Studios Germany, Deadline said. She will oversee development, commissioning—deciding which productions to order—and launches of German original programming.
Bühler succeeds Philip Pratt, who was named vice-president of original production at Disney+ for Germany, Switzerland and Austria earlier in October 2026. His new role puts him in charge of commissioning in those countries.
The slate Bühler will oversee includes Maxton Hall – The World Between Us, The Tank and the local version of LOL: Last One Laughing. Upcoming titles within her development, commissioning and launch responsibilities include Superior, Holey Moley – Minigolf Extreme, Der erste letzte Tag and The Prototype.
Bühler’s departure as Netflix’s director of film for German-speaking Europe became public months before this appointment. Jan Bennemann has replaced her as Netflix’s head of film for Germany, Austria and Switzerland.
At Netflix, Bühler was behind the company’s involvement in the Oscar-winning war film All Quiet on the Western Front. Her film credits also include Exterritorial and Brick. Earlier, she spent more than a decade as head of acquisitions and international co-productions at Constantin Film and led acquisitions at SquareOne Entertainment.
In an internal note, Tara Erer praised Bühler’s relationships with filmmakers, actors and producers in Germany and her understanding of local and global audiences. Erer said she expected Bühler to help pursue bigger and bolder stories as the German originals operation expands.

The black, gold and green edition follows September’s sold-out preorders. Nintendo’s replenished launch-day stock also quickly sold out.
