Governor Alexander Gusev says drone debris hit a commuter train. Ukrainian officials say Russian strikes injured six people in two regions; negotiators from Ukraine, Russia and the US are expected to meet in November.
A Ukrainian drone attack killed two people and injured 17 in Russia’s Voronezh on 26 October, regional Governor Alexander Gusev said in an account carried by Al Jazeera. In Ukraine, Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov said a Russian missile strike on the city’s Novobavarskyi district killed two people and injured four, according to Civic.am, a news site close to the governing Civil Contract party.
Gusev said drone debris fell on a moving commuter train in a left-bank suburb of Voronezh. A significant number of the injured were passengers, including two who were seriously wounded.
In his Telegram statement, Terekhov said the strikes damaged apartment buildings, private homes and vehicles.
Regional Governor Oleh Syniehubov said a 17-year-old girl was injured in the attack. Cars burned at the scene, and 10 garages were damaged. Emergency services were working at the site.
Russian strikes also injured people in two other Ukrainian regions on 26 October. Zaporizhzhia regional Governor Mykhailo Semikin said four people were injured in the southeastern city that morning. Ukraine’s emergency service said two people were injured in the Chernihiv region.
Al Jazeera’s 26 October report said negotiators from Ukraine, Russia and the US were expected to meet in Abu Dhabi in the first half of November.
Ukraine is awaiting US confirmation of the proposed Abu Dhabi meeting, where Zelenskyy wants ceasefires and humanitarian issues discussed.
