Sakurazaka46’s “Ai MUST BE” topped Billboard’s Japan Hot 100 for October 12–18, leading physical sales with 736,759 copies in its first week. The song ranked No. 12 on streaming in the chart released October 21.
The single was released October 14. According to Billboard, it had already passed half a million copies in its early-release-day tally—the group’s fourth consecutive release to reach that mark.
The overall chart measures more than streaming: Billboard combines physical and digital sales, audio streams, radio airplay, video views and karaoke data. That distinction matters for this week’s result. Ayumu Imazu’s “Musubi” led streaming with 9,303,925 plays but placed fourth overall, up from fifth.
iiONDO’s “Hatsukoi ONDO,” MATSURI’s “Koi no Chuo-sen” and Travis Japan’s “EGO” entered at Nos. 5, 6 and 8 respectively. iiONDO is an eight-member group launched from EBiDAN; its first single, headed by “Hatsukoi ONDO,” was released October 14 and ranked second in physical sales. MATSURI’s single came out the same day.
