Sarah J. Maas’ A Court of Splintered Harmony sold 1.7 million English-language print and ebook copies worldwide for its 27 October 2026 launch, including preorders, publisher Bloomsbury said. The total set Maas’ personal release-day sales record, Variety said.
The book is the sixth installment in A Court of Thorns and Roses, Maas’ series combining fantasy and romance. The series began in May 2015, and this is its first new installment in more than five years.
Bloomsbury’s count combines preorders with release-day purchases at major retailers and independent bookstores. The markets named are the US, Canada, UK and Australia. Audiobooks and translated editions are excluded from the 1.7 million total.
Variety said the figure represents a 600% increase over the release-day sales of A Court of Silver Flames, the fifth installment, in 2021. That means 7 times the earlier level.
Variety also projects that the initial sales could make A Court of Splintered Harmony the year’s largest book release. That forecast is distinct from the personal sales record already established for Maas.
The launch followed months of marketing, with dozens of brands releasing official series-inspired merchandise in collaboration with Maas. Variety said 2,000 midnight release parties were held worldwide.
In an October 28 account, The Guardian quoted Cassie Simmons, owner of London romance bookshop Main Character Books, as saying that unexpectedly strong preorders had prompted the shop to double its order from the publisher. The shop ordered again after launch-day sales, and Simmons said stock was moving faster than expected.

The money is owed to the trust of The Notorious B.I.G.’s late mother, Voletta Wallace. Its trustee’s lawyer estimates nearly $14 million with interest, for donation under her will to the Christopher Wallace Memorial Foundation.
Maas said in a statement that readers’ response overwhelmed her and that she was grateful.
A Court of Forgotten Melody, the seventh installment, is scheduled for 12 January. Maas has announced that A Court of Splintered Harmony contains The Valkyrie Cycle: Movement I, while the next book contains Movements II and III. A currently untitled third novel is to conclude the four-part narrative.
