Armenian artist Sarko Meené’s “Floral Meteorites from Armenia” has opened at Kourd Gallery in Athens, marking the first presentation of her work in Greece. Armenia’s embassy in Greece announced the opening and said it supported the exhibition, in an account published by Armenpress on October 26.
The gallery’s October 13 announcement listed an October 22 start date and described paintings made with oil and dry pastels on raw canvas. Its artwork listing includes the 2026 works “A smile within,” “Beloved” and “Armenian.”
Curator Eleni Varopoulou describes flowers that repeat across the canvas and form patterns resembling snowflakes, crystals, clusters and circles. She connects the paintings with memories of wild carrot blossoms and flowers that opened at night in a garden.
In an October 15 interview with elculture, Meené said the materials changed how she worked. She described the paintings as fragile and said a mistake meant starting again rather than correcting it. The process, she said, made her more cautious, patient and attentive.
Armenia’s ambassador to Greece, Tigran Mkrtchyan, attended the opening. The embassy said he discussed connections between some paintings and Greek mythology and philosophy, and highlighted Meené’s wish to build ties with Greece, where her grandfather was born. Meené herself said in the elculture interview that her grandfather was born in Athens.

The black, gold and green edition follows September’s sold-out preorders. Nintendo’s replenished launch-day stock also quickly sold out.

The gallery lists its address as 2 Kassianis Street, Athens, with opening hours of 6–10pm on Tuesdays, noon–8pm from Wednesday to Friday, and 11am–3pm on Saturdays. Visitors planning a December visit should confirm the closing date with the gallery.
