David Ellison says Sisgold will advise investment firm RedBird’s sports and entertainment businesses while continuing to work with Skydance.

Jesse Sisgold is stepping down as president of Paramount Sports Entertainment to take an advisory role at RedBird Capital Partners. Skydance CEO David Ellison confirmed the departure in an October 28 staff memo reproduced by The Hollywood Reporter. Ellison did not name a successor or interim leader, or give dates for Sisgold’s departure and RedBird start.
The departure changes leadership at a division created after the Skydance–Paramount merger closed on August 7, 2025. Paramount’s September 2025 plans put Sisgold in charge of sports storytelling, games and experiences, with Skydance Sports housed within the new division.
Paramount Sports Entertainment produces scripted programmes and unscripted work, including documentaries, for Paramount’s platforms and outside distributors. Its remit also includes sports-focused interactive games and experiences. It complements CBS Sports, which handles live sports coverage and studio shows.
The division appointed executives to lead business and legal affairs, marketing and partnerships, and physical production in appointments described by Sports Business Journal on May 13, 2026. All three appointees were to report to Sisgold and work closely with the division’s chief operating officer.
In an August 20, 2026 interview with TheWrap, Sisgold said the division had more than 20 projects slated for release across 12 distributors within the following year. Projects then in production included the drama series “The Land” and “WWE Unreal.”
Ellison said Sisgold leaves a clear strategy, a strong team and a continuing production slate. He credited Skydance Sports with renewing its National Football League (NFL) partnership, earning ten Sports Emmy nominations and delivering No. 1 releases across four platforms under Sisgold’s leadership. Apart from Sisgold’s departure, the memo announced no other changes to staffing or productions.

The black, gold and green edition follows September’s sold-out preorders. Nintendo’s replenished launch-day stock also quickly sold out.

Sisgold joined Skydance in 2014 to lead strategy and business affairs, became chief operating officer later that year and subsequently served as president. Ellison credited him with helping shape the company’s strategy, build its interactive business, raise capital and lead it through the Paramount merger.
The move takes Sisgold to an existing Skydance partner. Ellison traced that relationship to a 2019 meeting with Sisgold and Gerry Cardinale, RedBird’s founder. RedBird invested in Skydance in February 2020.
Ellison said Sisgold wanted greater freedom to build businesses and pursue opportunities beyond Skydance. Based in Beverly Hills, Sisgold will advise Cardinale and RedBird’s senior executives across the firm’s sports and entertainment investments. He will also continue working with Skydance on sports and entertainment opportunities.
