Tom Hanks and Kelli O’Hara are scheduled to star in This World of Tomorrow on Broadway in fall 2027. Producer Brian Anthony Moreland announced the limited engagement on October 22, bringing a production first staged at The Shed to Broadway audiences.
The play debuted Off Broadway at The Shed in 2025, when Hanks and O’Hara starred in a sold-out, eight-week run. The Broadway engagement is scheduled to be Hanks’s first in more than 14 years, following his Tony-nominated performance in Nora Ephron’s Lucky Guy.
Hanks and James Glossman wrote the play, adapting a series of short stories by Hanks. Its central character, Bert Allenberry, lives at the end of the 21st century and tries to change his future by returning to the past.
According to the synopsis, Bert repeatedly travels to the same day at the 1939 New York World’s Fair in Queens. Through those journeys, he discovers that choices made for love, rather than technology, shape the future.
Tony Award-winning director Kenny Leon will direct the Broadway production. In his announcement statement, Leon said he looked forward to giving more audiences the chance to see Hanks and O’Hara perform together.
The engagement is planned for a Shubert theater that has not yet been named, and exact performance dates have not been announced. Complete casting and creative-team details are to be announced shortly.

The black, gold and green edition follows September’s sold-out preorders. Nintendo’s replenished launch-day stock also quickly sold out.
