On October 15, the union said it was contacting affected members to offer career guidance and job matching. Ubisoft also says it is working with employment agencies to help laid-off staff find new jobs.
On October 15, the Creative Media and Publishing Union said it was contacting affected members to offer career guidance and job matching after Ubisoft cut 70 jobs at its Singapore studio. Ubisoft has laid off 70 employees at its Singapore game-development studio, Polygon said on October 27. The cuts took place on October 14, 2026, and affected about 20% of the local workforce, The Straits Times said in its October 15 report.
Ubisoft said the changes were intended “to align the studio with upcoming production needs” and that the Singapore team remained an important part of its global production organisation. An October 15 report by CNA described the company’s October 14 announcement as planned cuts.
The reduction follows a restructuring Ubisoft announced in January 2026, focused on recurring income from existing popular games. The company disclosed a €1.5 billion net loss for its 2025–26 financial year in May and has been cutting costs to return to profitability.
On October 14, Ubisoft also proposed closing its RedLynx studio in Finland. That proposal could affect up to 52 positions and remains subject to a local negotiation process.
The Straits Times identified designers, artists, production crew and programmers among those affected. Ubisoft did not name the affected roles in its response to the newspaper. Employees the newspaper contacted declined to comment.
Ubisoft said it would provide financial and career assistance and was working with Singapore’s Skills and Workforce Development Agency and the Employment and Employability Institute, known as e2i, on job placements. Singapore’s Taskforce for Responsible Retrenchment and Employment Facilitation said Ubisoft had committed to a severance package aligned with national guidelines on responsible layoffs.
The black, gold and green edition follows September’s sold-out preorders. Nintendo’s replenished launch-day stock also quickly sold out.

The union called for fair severance benefits, appropriate assistance and dignified treatment, citing the impact on workers and their families. Ubisoft was not a unionised company, but some employees belonged to the union.
Affected employees can seek the union’s help at cmpu@ntuc.or.sg or 6213 8510. The union said eligible jobseekers participating in e2i job-search activities could receive temporary financial support of up to S$6,000 over six months through the SkillsFuture Jobseeker Support scheme.
Ubisoft Singapore developed Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced, a remake released on July 9, 2026. The studio also worked on the original Black Flag and led development of the pirate game Skull and Bones. Black Flag Resynced sold more than three million copies in its first week.
Black Flag Resynced received its final major content update on October 27. It adds New Game Plus, which lets players replay the story while keeping earned items and upgrades, and a harder Nightmare difficulty mode. Ubisoft says the development team will focus in the coming months on quality-of-life adjustments—improvements to day-to-day play.
