Edinburgh entered the match as the early league leaders. Elsewhere on Friday, Connacht collected their second win of the season and Sharks their third.

Edinburgh winger Duhan van der Merwe left after 18 minutes on his return from a recurring ankle problem. Head coach Sean Everitt confirmed a hand laceration, rather than another ankle injury, but said he had not yet spoken to the medical staff about its extent.
Van der Merwe had hoped to use the match to make a late case for selection for Scotland. Their squad is due to be named on Monday for November’s international matches.
