The Fox News Decision Desk projects that Democrat Crowley will become Wisconsin’s first Black governor, succeeding the retiring Tony Evers.

Democratic Milwaukee County Executive David Crowley is projected to defeat Republican US Rep. Tom Tiffany in Wisconsin’s governor’s race, the Fox News Decision Desk said. The projection would make Crowley the first Black politician elected governor of Wisconsin.
Crowley would succeed Democratic Gov. Tony Evers, who is retiring after 2 terms. Evers won his second term in 2022, defeating Republican Tim Michels.
The contest for an open seat
Crowley narrowly defeated state Rep. Francesca Hong in the August Democratic primary. Tiffany is a 3-term congressman from a largely agricultural district in northern Wisconsin and an ally of President Donald Trump.
At their October 21 debate, Crowley challenged Tiffany’s argument on affordability, saying Tiffany had voted for the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, which Crowley said benefited some of Wisconsin’s highest earners. Crowley also accused Tiffany of working for Trump and billionaires funding his campaign.
Tiffany said Crowley was focused on opposing Trump. He said he wanted to put more money in taxpayers’ pockets rather than create programs that he said would raise their taxes.
