Song Kuk Hyang won the women’s 69 kg title on 3 November in Ningbo, China, recovering from a failed opening snatch to finish 16 kg ahead of Ri Suk. Sportaran said Song won snatch gold with 122 kg and clean and jerk gold with 153 kg, setting world records in both lifts and her 275 kg total.
Sportaran described the win as Song’s third consecutive world title. She previously won the 76 kg title at the 2024 championships in Bahrain, held from 6 December to 15.
The medalists
The total combines a lifter’s best snatch, in which the bar is lifted overhead in one movement, and best clean and jerk, in which it is lifted in two stages. Separate medals are also awarded for each lift.
| Event | Gold | Silver | Bronze |
|---|---|---|---|
| Total | Song Kuk Hyang, North Korea — 275 kg | Ri Suk, North Korea — 259 kg | Juliette Rodriguez, Colombia — 245 kg |

Kosovo’s 15-year-old Emily Ibanez finished fifth in the senior event with a 240 kg total, lifting 106 kg in the snatch and 134 kg in the clean and jerk. Sportaran said she set seven youth world records and, competing in Group B, finished ahead of eight Group A lifters.
