Armenia’s Aleksandra Grigoryan won clean-and-jerk bronze with 120 kg in the women’s 57 kg competition at the 2026 World Weightlifting Championships. Her combined total of 205 kg placed her fourth overall.
The competition took place on 30 October 2026 in Ningbo, China. It brought Armenia its first medal at this year’s championships, Sportaran said.
Grigoryan entered the competition as a former overall medalist: she won the European title in Sofia in 2024 and world bronze in Manama later that year.
Weightlifting awards medals for each of its two lifts as well as for the total of an athlete’s best successful lift in each. In the snatch, the bar goes overhead in one movement; the clean and jerk brings it to the shoulders before lifting it overhead.
Grigoryan completed an 85 kg snatch, then failed both attempts at 90 kg. In the clean and jerk, she successfully lifted 114 kg before completing her bronze-winning lift.

Oh Kwan Ok and Chen Guan-ling lifted more than Grigoryan in the clean and jerk. Ivzhenko’s stronger snatch put her ahead in the total, leaving Grigoryan 9 kg short of overall bronze.
Armenpress carried Grigoryan’s comments through the Armenian Weightlifting Federation’s press service. She said she was not particularly satisfied, believed she could have done more and had come seeking an overall medal.
I will not make any promises, but I will do everything I can to perform brilliantly at the 2027 World Championships in Yerevan
