South Africa dismissed Australia for 111 at Newlands on 31 October 2026, winning the deciding men’s cricket Test by 176 runs and the series 2–1. The victory also returned South Africa to the top of the Test rankings, displacing Australia.
The hosts had overturned Australia’s 100-run first-innings lead before their bowlers settled the match on the final day.
Harmer’s career-best bowling figures meant he dismissed 6 batters while conceding 16 runs. He bowled Josh Hazlewood to end the match. Added to his 4 wickets in Australia’s opening innings, that gave Harmer his first 10-wicket Test match and the player-of-the-match award.
Rabada reached 350 career Test wickets when Travis Head was caught by Marco Jansen. The Guardian said Rabada reached the milestone in the fewest deliveries, almost 1,000 fewer than the previous fastest.
